just do it

Occasionally I share a bit about myself, and today I started exercising again :)

To be honest, I'm not one of those eager beaver fitness freaks who just LOVE exercising... in fact I find it to be a bit of a shlep. But there are those things in life that we just need to do sometimes, whether we want to or not.

So I'm walking - at least it's a start :p

pedro and friends

Meet Pedro (on the right).

Pedro is one of my little friends who occasionally come to visit here in Cape Town. Today, he introduced me to his little friend, Sanchez. They are the bestest of friends and go on many adventures together.

Be warned that this will not be the only time you see Pedro :)

TODAY IS DAY 80 OF THE BLOG - WOOP WOOP!!!

sprunging spring :)

Yes, it seems that spring has finally sprung in the Cape, and my mom bought me flowers over the weekend! :)

5 a day...

For those of you who really follow my every day: you would've noticed that I've been absent the last 4 days. Alas, I was away...

My mom came to visit from Pretoria and we went away for the weekend, to Paternoster, on the West Coast. It was magnificent to get away from the city buzz, and to spend some time with my mom and sister. Total bliss!

I've selected 5 of my favourite photos of the weekend, and I hope you enjoy. This will only happen when I don't have internet connection, or when I'm away - from everything technological :)

Also, I did my second wedding yesterday and it was absolutely wonderful! It rained, and it pored, but we took some amazing photos and I'm sure the result will be super! Will keep you posted on that!

korrel

My mom arrived in Cape Town today, and she's staying for the weekend!

I LOVE my mom, and I call her 'korrel', it's the afrikaans word for crumb... I have absolutely no idea where that name comes from... but it's stuck... and so it will remain!

a is for autism

Autism.

Most people don't know enough about it to say anything valuable, and Hollywood doesn't help with the portrayal of the condition..

I work with Autistic children, it's my job. I LOVE MY JOB, and yes, I love the kids too. Everyday is an adventure, and the kids never cease to amaze us! People tend to believe that we make a difference in their lives, but tonight I realised that they are the ones making the difference.

I challenge all my followers, to somehow, meet an autistic child or adult. Spend time with them, and allow them to show you a little piece of their world. You won't be disappointed!

p.s the colour coded yarn-frame is to show that we all have a little autism in us somewhere - me included :)

tired

It's not often that I post myself onto my blog... but I was just too tired tonight to do anything else :)

Let's just say today was a tiring day... emotionally, physically and spiritually! Luckily I know where my strength comes from!!!

destinations

I was wondering today, when I saw all these cars...

Where is everyone going? And why are we sometimes just going going going without thinking about what the destination is...

''... and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith!!'' -Hebrews 12v1-2

good ol' faithful

Nothing like some fish and chips for a Saturday evening, when I'm too lazy to cook anything decent :)

peek-a-boo

Perhaps this little one needs new socks??

p.s my colleague took this photo - well done Keri!

Wednesday, September 15

tooo much!

One of the 'rules' of this little project was that I wasn't allowed to take too many photos of the same thing... WELL... perhaps I'm a little bit of a rebel then?!

The clouds tonight looked like ordinary cumulus nimbus clouds... but with a little bit of luck, and a lot more shutter speed settings...... this is what came out!

I love the DRAMA of this photo - I think it's beautiful!!

Monday, September 13

fresh washing...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE fresh washing - as it comes out of the tumble drier!

Now we don't have a tumble drier, but when I was younger I used to wash my clothes and tumble dry it afterwards. As I got the clothes out of the drier I would lie on my bed and throw it all out on myself!!

I LOVE THAT SMELL!!

Sunday, September 12

weeds??

I saw the most beautiful thing today. Little pink flowers growing out of the grass at my friend's house in Somerset West. Never have I seen this spectacular nature-event! Apparently it's common for this to happen after winter, when spring comes a long.

I think these pretsy pinksy flowers are much too beautiful in their large numbers to be called weeds!!!

SATURDAY - SEPTEMBER 11

Survival Tip #1:

If you're going to assist a wedding photo shoot - TAKE ENOUGH WATER!!!

p.s due to the unforeseen circumstance that my internet didn't connect where I was staying, this post is a day late... BUT the photo WAS taken on Saturday!!

'twas the night before

I'm assisting my first wedding tomorrow...

Nervous? Who me? Noooo, I'm not nervous at all ;)

60 something

Happy 60-day birthday to my blog :)

Ironically enough, I have 60 pages left of this FANTASTIC book by Jodi Picoult. She is a PHENOMENAL writer and I've read about 10 or so of her books. Get it!!

Random week for my blog, sorry to all... I'm horrendously tired and can't do much about it. This was a tough week - emotionally and physically. More about that some other day...

Wednesday, September 8

oh-so-easy

This week is one of the busiest weeks I've had in a very very long time... phew!! Working late at school almost everyday, birthday parties to attend, friends to catch up with - and my first wedding on Saturday.

Needless to say... when I came home tonight... NO FOOD. Good old Bokomo Oats comes in handy when there's nothing else to eat. Swirl in a teaspoon of peanut butter and syrup... VOILA!!!

Tuesday, September 7

blacks, whites and brights

Washing washing washing - I am NOT a fan... Needless to say, I had to wash at 21:00 tonight... life is busy.

Random info for a random photo... I promise, the inspiration will strike again soon ;)

Thanks to all my loyal followers, for visiting often, for encouraging me to continue this little stint, and for believing that I can realise this dream :D

Monday, September 6

happy hair day

Unlike me, my flatmate has A LOT of hair... and I've always loved doing this trick.

When we were small my sister and I used to walk like this in shopping centers... and that my friends, is a PRICELESS memory!!

Saturday, September 4

cheating..

So, today was quite a long day - and this week was quite a long week... SO I AM CHEATING!!!

This is one of the very first photos I took, when taking the first steps of my photography dream in 2006. I JUST LOVE THIS PICTURE!! It's one of my all-time favourites and definitely worth the cheat ;)

Friday, September 3

colour

This is not the photo I wanted to post for today - but sometimes life happens a bit different to what we planned...

swikiri - sugar

I love the inspirational messages on Huletts' Sugar packets...

About 2 weeks after I started pursuing my dream of photography, I stumbled upon this little treasure - and It's SO inspiring!! My road ahead is sooo exciting... I'm holding my breath every step of the way, and trying to contain the butterflies I feel every time I pick up a camera.

To everyone reading this - DREAM BIG, and just go out there and DO IT!!

Yes, these flowers are dry... it doesn't mean I can't say:

HAPPY SPRING!
